UHMWPE Cords yield extremely high strength (15x stronger than steel by weight ratio) in a compact size and lightweight. Compared to utility cords or mil-spec paracords made of nylon/polyester, UHMWPE cords are much lighter and far less bulkier, convenient for outdoor carry, and easy storage with spools.

Tough Cord for Outdoor

As high-tech performance cords, UHMWPE has unbeatable durability in excellent resistance to UV, chemicals, abrasion (comparable to Kevlar), almost no absorption to water, advanced cords for both home and outdoor uses, superior substitutes to steel wires, especially in water use.

Creep Resistance

Being of very low stretch, and highly resistant to creep, to flex-fatigue, UHMWPE cords have a better tendency to keep strength and retain shapes under loading. Longer service life, and much reducing replacement frequency for your most works.

Of 12 strands hollow braid, and inherently self-lubricating, the cords are easy to splice, MAKE YOUR OWN GEARS (MYOG) like continuous loops, adjustable whoopie slings, soft shackles (>1/16″/1.6mm cord recommended) for hammocks, tents, tarps, tree works, biking tie-down, etc.

How to seal the end?

Heat cut the cord and the end will self-sealed.Use whipping twine to whip the cord/rope ends or spliced eye for extra security.

About Color Fastness

UHMWPE fibers don’t take dye very well, and it’s normal that the color will fade after exposure to water, frictions, and handlings overuse.HMPE CORDs keep high performance that won’t be influenced by color fading.

Working Load Limit (WLL) = 20% of Tensile Strength, for the longevity of the cord and safe uses

Tensile Strength

Also known as the labeled strength, is the average testing strength at which the new and unused cord would break when tested in laboratory condition in accordance with Cordage Institute Standard Test Methods. The load, applied in parallel to the cord, slowly increases until the cord breaks.

Working Load Limit (WLL)

In practical uses, various factors would impact or reduce the strength of any rope/cord, including knots in the rope, abrasion, humidity, UV, former use and care, etc. To assure safe uses, it’s indispensable to adopt a safety margin in the cord/rope strength, which leads to Working Load Limit (WLL).

The Working Load Limit (WLL) is determined by dividing the tensile strength by a safety factor. To assure the longevity of the cord and maintain a comfortable margin for safe uses, a 5:1 safety factor (20% of the tensile strength) is adopted and recommended for emma kites UHMWPE cord for general applications.
